On Thursday October 18th 2018, Marloes Huis defended her PhD dissertation in which she discusses how training women in the context of microfinance services can strengthen their empowerment. Both women’s needs and the context should be considered in such training.
Last summer, students, refugees, academics, and practitioners from different nations and disciplines came together to explore the complexity of migration, the problems around it, and alternatives to current practices in policy and society at the RUG. The summer school ‘Migration Matters’ resulted in three concrete student initiatives to improve the lives of refugees.
In the past five years, Annemie Wetzels has worked on an intervention (coaching) program for teachers. This Thursday, October 29th, she defends her dissertation on the outcomes of this project. In this blogpost, she proposes that person-context dynamics should always be taken into account when conducting interventions in education.
