A Fruit Fly’s Concept of Time – Hedderik Van Rijn’s work on Unifocus
Humans have three different kinds of concepts of time: long-term, middle-term and short-term. The middle-term concept of time is often used for cognitive tasks, such as making decisions. Hedderik van Rijn is studying whether fruit flies also have a middle-term concept of time. If they do, this can perhaps be influenced. This in turn could have consequences for the treatment of Parkinson’s patients. He explains his work in this Unifocus video.
